When we make the sign of the cross, we proclaim the message of salvation purchased by Jesus through the cross. The Bible clearly states :”For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved , is the power of God” (1Corinthians 1:18).
The Bible teaches us to be proud of it as the message of the cross is the power of God; “But God forbids that I should boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me and I to the world” (Galatians 6:14).
The Cross symbolizes our day to day sufferings without with there is no crown for Christians. When Peter tried to keep Jesus away from the Cross, He called Peter “Satan”. So it is clear , Satan is afraid and keeps himself away from the cross as it is through the Cross that Jesus destroyed the devil’s kingdom and saved mankind from the slavery of sin and death.

O, Jesus, meek and humble of heart, deliver me from the desire of being esteemed, deliver me Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled, of being honored , of being praised, of being preferred to others , of being consulted, of being approved, deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated , deliver me Jesus.
From the fear of being despised, of being rebuked, of being neglected, of being forgotten, of being rediculed, of being wronged, of being suspected, of being injured, deliver me Jesus.
That others may be esteemed more than I, Jesus grant me the grace to desire it, that others may be chosen and I set aside, that others may be praised and I unnoticed, that others be holier than I, provided that I may become holy as I should. Jesus grant me the grace to desire it according to your will. +Amen

Orchids are flowers which grow abundantly in Thailand. You can find both plants and cut flowers in the market year round. We grow these beautiful flowers in our small garden at home. These orchid plants supply us with cut flowers on a regular basis. When we have more than enough blooms, we cut some as offering in our altar. And leave the rest in their hanging pots for us to enjoy their beauty.

God of mercy, You wash away our sins in water, You give us new birth in the spirit, and redeem us in the blood of Christ. As we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, increase our awareness of these blessings, and renew Your gift of life within us. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever . + Amen

I had been extremely busy the past few days and missed posting two important anniversaries in our family. April 11th was our 14th wedding anniversary and the 12th was JM’s baptismal anniversary. Fourteen years of wedded bliss I would consider as a blessing from God as we kept faithful to our wedding vows and we look forward to the our next fifty anniversaries. JM’s baptismal anniversary reminded me of those few days after his birth of searching for a church where he can be baptized within the week. As my parents would tell me over and over again in the past, have the baby baptized the soonest time possible after his birth. I contacted one of the Catholic churches here in the city , but unfortunately, they hold baptisms only on the first Sunday of each month. So this church was out. The next was another nearby church , but I was refused because JM’s godparents were all abroad and they strictly require the presence of the sponsors on baptismal day. A couple more churches were contacted but to my dismay, they issue the baptismal certificate in Thai language only . I needed one in English because I was sure that when the time is right JM has to move on to a Catholic school in my country . It came to my mind that the priest who anointed him at the hospital could help. And I was right ! He immediatley obliged to have JM baptized on April 12, 1998 , Easter Sunday. And his baptismal certificate was issued both in Thai and English. Added to this , he did not require JM’s godparents to be present during the baptismal rites. Thank you Fr. Ignatius Adisak for all your help and kindness. God Bless You and I wish you success in your work.

Then followed that beautiful season…. Summer….. Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical llight; and the landscape lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood. - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
It is summer in Thailand. We are now experiencing the kind of heat we we don’t at anytime of the year , in the months of April and May. Uncomfortable might be the weather, we always find time to thank God for this beautiful season where we as a family would explore places of nature and experience the beauty of His creations.
